Medical Equipment for Two New Hospitals as Medical Tourism Grows

Byrne Medical Equipment Rental will be supplying two new hospitals, in the UAE and KSA, with an operating lease agreement for a range of radiology, endoscopy and patient monitoring equipment.

Being supplier independent, Byrne Medical is able to package numerous suppliers’ equipment in one transaction which allows the company to offer the widest possible selection of medical equipment. In the agreement, valued at approximately AED 145 million, CMC will be receiving medical equipment manufactured by Siemens, Olympus, Karl Storz and Philips, with the first equipment delivery expected during April 2019.

The almost complete 110-bed hospital in Dubai, UAE is part of the Clemenceau Medicine Network of hospitals and operated by Clemenceau Medicine International. It will have advances such as robotic surgery, and wide-ranging inpatient and outpatient services. The new hospital will have six state-of-the-art operating theatres, employing the latest available technologies and medical procedures to augment the overall treatment methodologies and improve patients’ medical experience. It will also have services for medical travelers including a dedicated department with multi-lingual patient coordinators to plan all aspects of medical travel from consultation and hospital admission to transport and hotel arrangements (if needed, air ambulance transportation) and second opinion and consultations via telemedicine.

The global medical tourism market is reported to be currently around $100 billion and is growing at a rapid rate of approximately 20 per cent year on year. The UAE is expected to record the highest growth rate in healthcare spending between 2017 and 2022 at 9.6%. The Clemenceau Medical Center in Dubai is being developed at a cost of approximately AED 550 million in partnership with Khansaheb Investment, Dubai Investment, and CMC Beirut is expected to receive patients during 2019.

The second hospital is The Clemenceau Medical Centre at a prime location along King Fahd Road in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.  CMC Riyadh will be a 16-story state-of-the-art 180 bed hospital, which will provide acute care treatment, intermediate care in a five-star setting, home care and follow-up, and will offer a wide-spectrum of medical and surgical specialties in addition to advanced screening and diagnostic services. The Clemenceau Medical Center in Riyadh is being developed at a cost of approximately SAR 650 million in partnership with Rana Investment and CMC Beirut is scheduled for completion in the latter half of 2019 with the first medical equipment delivery from the operating lease agreement with Byrne expected in August 2019.

The medical centers in Dubai and Riyadh will be affiliated with CMC in Beirut and will be operated by CMI as part of the Clemenceau Medicine Network.
